Choosing a cat carrier for a flight

A cabin trip goes smoothly when the carrier fits under the seat and the cat already knows it.

Size and weight

Airlines set the under-seat size, so check yours first. YUNIQUE soft carriers are rated for pets up to 15 pounds; the Soft Pet Carrier measures 16.54 × 11.42 × 11.42 inches.

Air and calm

Mesh on several sides keeps air moving and lets the cat see out, which many cats find calming. A visor or a cover helps when they would rather hide.

Safety

An internal clip attached to a harness keeps a cat inside when you open the zip at security. Dual zippers let you reach in without opening the whole top.

Practice at home

• Leave the carrier open on the floor for a week.
• Feed treats inside.
• Take short car rides before the flight.
